Our ongoing efforts related to Corporate Social Responsibility are engrained into who we are and what we do as a public service oriented organization through thoughtful environmental, social, and governance activities and their resulting positive impacts.

The Boston Fed's leadership and employees believe in the power and impact of service to the community. Our First Serve initiative promotes a number of volunteer opportunities that are available to our employees and supports their own endeavors to volunteer and give back through a variety of civic projects and initiatives. Our community development initiatives support progress in low- and moderate-income communities. Central to that support is the strong belief in cross-sector collaboration and the potential of communities to pursue collaborative and ambitious efforts to improve the lives of low-income people.

The Boston Fed remains steadfast in the collective efforts aimed toward environmental responsibility. We are focused on energy improvement efforts for Federal Reserve Plaza and engage our employees as partners in ongoing reuse and recycling initiatives. We embrace the idea of green space at the Bank as an integral part of creating a welcoming and healthy work space and are proud of our "Energy Star" and LEED™ EBGold certifications. Federal Reserve Plaza sources electric power from zero-emission resources, which significantly reduces the net emissions associated with the building’s energy consumption.
