Archives
The Archives of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston identifies, collects, preserves, and catalogs records that document the institutional history and achievements of the Bank since its founding, and assures that these materials are made available to researchers now and in the future in accordance with established Bank policies.
Guidelines for Requests
Requests for archival materials or research inquiries must be submitted in writing. Each request must contain the following:
- The name, address, and telephone number of the person filing the request;
- A sufficient description of the topic or materials of interest. Include as much information as is available about your subject(s), the chronological range of your study, and specific institutions and people of interest;
- The agreement of the requester to pay the Bank for any fees owed in accordance with the fee schedule, or a request for waiver of such fees, outlined in the Transparency & Accountability Policy.
If a researcher is interested in viewing archival materials on-site, please include in the initial request. All on-site requests are subject to review and approval by the Research Department Support Services and require a scheduled appointment. Please apply as far in advance as possible of your anticipated visit. The Archives is not open to walk-in researchers.
