Biography
Robert F. Rivers is the Boston Fed's representative to the Federal Reserve System's Federal Advisory Council. He is executive chair and chair of the Board of Directors of Eastern Bankshares, Inc. and Eastern Bank, which has more than $30 billion in assets and about 120 locations. Rivers began his 40-plus year career in community banking as a teller. He co-founded Eastern’s innovation hub, Eastern Labs, which has pioneered new products and advanced digital banking services. He is a graduate of Stonehill College and the University of Rochester’s Simon Business School. Rivers serves as chair of the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation Board of Directors and on the boards of directors of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, The Lowell Plan, and The New England Council. Rivers is a member of the Board of Trustees of Stonehill College, the Advisory Boards of the Lawrence Partnership and UTEC, as well as the Boston Women’s Workforce Council and The Boston Club. He is co-chair of the Massachusetts Business Coalition for Early Childhood Education, which raises awareness about the need for a more robust and sustainable network of early child care and education. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Mass FinTech Hub.
