Employee Value Proposition – Making a Difference Employee Value Proposition – Making a Difference

Pride in Public Service

Our employees take great pride in working for an organization whose mission is to promote sound economic growth and financial stability in the New England area and the United States. We serve the public through high-quality research, regulatory approaches, financial services, outreach programs, and a commitment to leadership and innovation.

Employees at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston are very involved in developing strong partnerships with local government, businesses, and support organizations in New England to enhance public awareness of local and national issues affecting the economy, credit and financial systems.

Our employees undertake challenging assignments in support of the Bank’s mission, contributing to decisions that affect the economic and financial health of the New England area, the United States and, more broadly, the world.

Diversity & Inclusion

Our employees believe in diversity and the strength that comes from diverse perspectives, ideas and approaches to solving important business problems. They are a part of an organizational culture that embraces and leverages diverse employees, constituents, and community partnerships. Diversity and inclusion are celebrated through numerous educational programs, development initiatives and cultural enrichment activities taking place throughout the year.

Opportunities for Professional & Career Development

Our employees enjoy numerous professional and developmental opportunities that are available through interactive classroom experiences, challenging work and action-learning assignments. Professional and career development is supported by a tuition reimbursement program, individualized career counseling, coaching, leadership and mentoring programs, on-site training and stretch assignments in areas such as bank supervision, research, public policy, information technology, accounting and finance.

Competitive Pay & Benefits

Our employees work hard at stimulating jobs and receive market competitive pay as determined by the Bank’s leading edge Market-Based Pay Program. Our employees and their families also have access to a competitive benefits package, which includes a comprehensive selection of medical, dental and vision plans, parental leave, a fully funded pension plan and Bank matching on our 401K plan. Our employees can also take advantage of group personal (e.g., life, home, auto) insurance, legal assistance and financial advisory services, which are also part of the Bank’s benefits program.

Healthy Work-Life Balance

Our employees pursue challenging careers without giving up the other important dimensions of their lives. The Bank encourages its employees to find a healthy work-life balance and in some cases is able to offer work-from-home arrangements and flexible work schedules. Our employees have access to off-site emergency backup childcare, on-site health and fitness centers, as well as a number of other conveniences that enable our employees to find the optimal balance between career and their personal lives. Many of our employees take advantage of the Bank’s vacation buy program that allows them to purchase up to one additional week of vacation per year.

Social Responsibility

Our employees strongly believe in social responsibility, as reflected in the number of charitable organizations they support and the various green initiatives that are currently underway at the Bank.

Our employees are able to participate in numerous volunteer opportunities, either through organizations such as the United Way or through the Bank’s financial literacy training and education programs or, tutoring and reading programs at a local elementary school. The Bank has a newly-formed Employee Volunteer Council that will expand the number and marketing of volunteer opportunities that are available to our employees.

Located in the heart of Boston’s Financial District, the Bank is conveniently located across the street from South Station, one of the city’s two central transportation hubs. With convenient access to subway, commuter rail and bus lines, it is easy for employees to commute to work and reduce their carbon footprints.

A grass-roots Environmental Impact Committee (EIC) is improving our recycling and sustainability efforts. The Bank earned an “Energy Star” designation in early 2009 and recently received the LEED™ EB (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Existing Buildings) Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
