Biography
Caroline Carpenter has been President and CEO of National Bank of Middlebury since 2015. She is the first female president of the bank since incorporation in 1831. Prior to becoming president, she served as Executive Vice President of the bank and Technology Manager. She serves on the board of directors of NBM, is the Executive Vice President of Middlebury National Corporation, and the chair of the Community Financial Services Group board.
Caroline joined the bank in 1997 and has held many roles in the organization including Chief Operating Officer, Executive Vice President, Technology Manager and Information Security Officer.
Caroline is a graduate of the University of Vermont and the New England School of Banking at Williams College. She has been part of the banking community in Addison County since 1991, serving as a mortgage loan originator at Vermont Federal Bank for six years before joining National Bank of Middlebury in 1997. Caroline has served on various local non-profit boards including Habitat for Humanity, Addison County Humane Society, Addison County Economic Development Corporation (ACEDC), the Neighbors Together Committee, HOPE (Helping Overcome Poverty’s Effects), president of the Vermont Women’s Forum, and the Vermont Economic Development Authority (VEDA). She currently serves on the Hinesburg Affordable Housing Committee, the board of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston (FHLBB), the Executive Council of the Vermont Bankers Association, and is a member of the leadership team of the American Bankers Association Women CEO Peer Group.
